Our Future!

What do we want our city to be in 2014?

  • We must compete successfully with neighboring areas for new residents. How?

By capitalizing on our strengths:

Aesthetics

  • We must keep our neighborhoods beautiful.
  • We need an historic preservation ordinance.
  • We must work together to prevent vandalism, litter and graffiti.

Creativity
We have to free the creativity of our citizens.
We need our artists, entrepreneurs, everyone to:

  • Create new uses for our empty and neglected spaces.
  • Develop a citywide public art plan.
  • Re-energize Cain Park
  • Increase and improve our green space.

Location

  • Our relationship with University Circle must be, formalized, strengthened and marketed.
  • Our residents have ties to these institutions and they can help by offering expertise and establishing joint programs.
  • Increase collaboration with our area colleges and universities. Academics and their students can help us generate solutions to our problems.
  • All areas of the city should be served equally; some are experiencing more difficulties than others. Problems should be addressed everywhere—our futures are tied together.
