Taxes!

What impact do our tax dollars have? How will we get our money’s worth?

  • We must set high expectations for everyone who lives here.
  • We must accept that money does not solve all problems.

Based on the two points above, I will work for a $1.00 a year for my first 2 years in office in order to:

  • Save taxpayers $21,135.60.
  • To show how serious I am about re-energizing our city.
  • As a show of support to the many people in our community who already generously give their time and energies to make our city a better place.
  • And to encourage others to join in and help move our community forward.

We have to free the creativity in our government. There are many city workers who want to work smarter.

  • A rigid bureaucracy stifles innovation, denies problems, and gives workers an excuse to be less than their best.
  • Collaboration with other governments is crucial.
  • We need increased collaboration and cooperation between city government, the schools, and our local non-profit organizations.
  • We should re-evaluate the use of the Community Development Block Grant Funds.

Increase access to police

  • Why can pay to send them to law school, but can’t reach them by voicemail or email?
  • We must work closely with them about crime for our safety.
  • We must work closely with them for their safety.
  • There must never be another officer killed in our community.

Increase government transparency and accountability:

  • Allow citizen dialogue at council meetings-as they do at our school board meetings.
  • Televised city council meetings should be available to everyone.
  • Formalize follow-up with citizen concerns.
  • Improve communication via improved city website.
